First impression He was swift to make an impression on the first-class game, taking the wicket of former England all-rounder David Capel with his first ball, and scoring 91 in his first innings against Northamptonshire.

* Acclaimed as one of the best fielders in the world, he won the NatWest Catch of the Series in 2005 and recently celebrated his 100th ODI appearance for England.
* He made his First Class debut in 1996 after coming up through the ranks of the junior set up at Durham and was awarded his County Cap in 1998.
* Is is one the Five Wisden Cricketers of the Year 2007 alongside Mahela Jayawardene, Mohammad Yousuf, Monty Panesar and Mark Ramprakash.
* Double century against Australia in 2007 - only the third English batsman to score a double century in Australia, and the first since Wally Hammond in 1936.
